(Eng below) mikro.FM will in Berlin Freies Radio realisieren. Seit Jahren bemühen sich verschiedenste Initativen auf unterschiedliche Weise um nichtkommerzielle Frequenzen. Bislang erfolglos. Was in anderen Bundesländern schon lange selbstverständlich ist, muß in Berlin und Brandenburg erst noch erkämpft werden. Es fehlt nicht an Frequenzen, es fehlt am politischen Willen. Der Berliner Senat hatte der Änderung des gemeinsamen Medienstaatsvertrag schon zugestimmt, doch Brandenburg ist bisher nicht bereit Freies Radio zu ermöglichen.Um wenigstens einen Teil davon hörbar zu machen, was Freies Radio in Berlin sein könnte, bietet mikro.fm allen Interessierten aus Berlin und anderswo die Möglichkeit, Sendungen freier Radioinitiativen mit eigenen, sehr kleinen UKW-Sendern im Wohngebiet zu verbreiten.Unsere Ansätze:
- alle Arbeit basiert auf dem Prinzip des Subotnik
- alle Musik basiert auf dem Prinzip freier Lizenzen (für die Radiowoche haben wir eine GEMA-Lizenz, weil wir Programme von anderen Radios übernehmen)
- alle Inhalte sollten mindestens mit der Allgemeinen Erklärung der Menschenrechte konform gehen
- alle die mitmachen wollen, sind willkommen

mikro.FM wants to realize a Free Radio in Berlin. For may years a varietyof different local initiatives have attempted and campaigned to create a non-commercial frequency. Still without an ongoing station in operation. In many other countries, the rights for community access to radio are long understood, but in Berlin and Brandenberg* the struggle continues, and it is not the lack of frequencies, but the failure of a political will. With the last changes in the state media laws, while the Berlin Senate gave a green light, the Brandenburg region did not see the need to alter the circumstances of frequency access. So to make not just an example but a functional reality of what non-commercial radio can mean for Berlin, Mikro.fm offers everyone from Berlin and anywhere to join in the creation of an alternative media through the use of neighborhood micro transmitters, a form of low-power-fm radio which is legal.Our basic principles and attitude:
- All our work is based on the principles of Subotnik
- All music played is based on copyleft licensing (GEMA/ royalty free. For the week of free radio we got a GEMA licence, since we relay other radios’s programs)
- All content should at the very least be in accordance with a general concern for human rights
- Everyone is welcome to participate
* Bundesländer, i.e. Brandenberg, are regional territories similar to the states in US, belonging to Germany and sharing many common laws, though actually they may be considered even less independent than the states in the US
